Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Studies is a mobility activity that enables students enrolled at our university to pursue part of their education at a higher education institution abroad with which our university has an Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement.
Through this mobility, students have the opportunity to study in a different country, experience different academic and cultural environments, and gain international experience. Once the required academic procedures have been completed, the study period spent abroad is recognized as part of the student’s education at our university.
Study mobility is carried out within the framework of Inter-Institutional Agreements (IIAs) between higher education institutions holding the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). Therefore, students may undertake study mobility only at higher education institutions abroad with which our university has an Erasmus+ agreement covering the relevant department or field.
For each academic year, our university publishes an Erasmus+ student mobility application announcement. Students wishing to participate in the mobility must submit their applications through TURNAPortal within the announced application period and participate in the selection process.
The application requirements, evaluation criteria, quotas, and other conditions applicable to the mobility are specified in the current Erasmus+ application announcement published for each academic year.
Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Studies can be carried out for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months. The mobility period is calculated separately for each study cycle in which the student is enrolled.
Students may benefit from Erasmus+ mobility for up to 12 months in total at each of the following study levels:
Associate degree / Bachelor’s degree,
Master’s degree,
Doctoral degree.
It is possible to undertake more than one Erasmus+ mobility within this period. Both study and traineeship mobilities are taken into account when calculating the total mobility period applicable to the relevant study cycle.
Students selected for Erasmus+ mobility may be eligible to receive financial support (grant) in accordance with the rules and budget determined for the relevant academic year.
The Erasmus+ grant is not intended to cover all of the student’s living and educational expenses abroad. Its primary purpose is to contribute to the additional expenses that may arise as a result of participating in the mobility.
Provided that the student fulfills the obligations established under the Erasmus+ programme and complies with the terms of the grant agreement, the grant paid to the student is not subject to repayment. Grant amounts and the number of students receiving grants are determined in accordance with the Erasmus+ rules applicable to the relevant academic year and the available budget of our university.
Students may also participate in Erasmus+ mobility without receiving a grant. Zero-grant students are subject to the same application and selection process as grant-supported students and may benefit from the academic rights arising from the mobility. The main difference is that zero-grant students are not included in the grant budget and do not receive Erasmus+ financial support.
The study programme to be followed by an Erasmus+ Student Mobility for Studies participant abroad is planned in accordance with the student’s academic programme at our university.
During their mobility period, students are expected to follow a study programme corresponding to:
30 ECTS credits for one semester,
60 ECTS credits for one academic year.
Courses that are academically appropriate and equivalent to the courses the student is required to take at our university are identified at the host university. These courses are formally recorded in the Learning Agreement, which is approved by the student, our university, and the host university before the mobility begins.
If the courses included in the Learning Agreement are successfully completed by the student, their recognition at our university is ensured. The courses offered by the host university do not have to have exactly the same names or content as the courses at our university. A high degree of similarity between the course content and learning outcomes is sufficient.
The student’s academic performance during the mobility period is evaluated based on the total number of ECTS credits successfully completed abroad. The student’s academic performance is taken into consideration when determining the final grant payment and, where applicable, any grant deduction at the end of the mobility. The evaluation of academic performance and any applicable grant deductions are carried out in accordance with the provisions of our university’s Erasmus+ KA1 Directive.
If a student successfully completes their courses during the mobility period, the period of study spent abroad is recognized as part of their education at our university. If a student fails some courses, the credits corresponding to the successfully completed courses are recognized, and the student continues their education at our university in accordance with their academic status prior to participating in Erasmus+. Procedures concerning failed courses are carried out in accordance with the relevant academic regulations of our university.
Erasmus+ students maintain their student registration at our university throughout their mobility period abroad. Students are not required to suspend their registration at our university in order to participate in Erasmus+ mobility.
Students do not pay tuition fees or registration fees at the host university as part of their Erasmus+ mobility. However, the host university may charge Erasmus+ students certain minor service or facility-use fees that are also charged to its own students. For example, fees may apply for the use of sports facilities or transportation services. Such fees may vary depending on the host university and country.
